01 - 4 slices sourdough or country white bread
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
03 - 4 slices cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese

→ Meats

04 - 4 slices thick-cut bacon

05 - 1 ripe avocado, sliced
06 - 1 medium tomato, sliced
07 - 2 leaves romaine or butter lettuce

→ Condiments & Seasoning

08 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

# How To Make:

01 - Cook bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, approximately 5-7 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
02 - Lightly butter one side of each bread slice with softened butter.
03 - Place two bread slices buttered side down on a clean surface. Layer each with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices. Season avocado and tomato with salt and pepper. Top with remaining cheese and bread slices, buttered side up.
04 - Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place assembled sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown with melted cheese, approximately 3-4 minutes per side, gently pressing with a spatula.
05 - Remove sandwiches from skillet and let cool for 1-2 minutes. Slice diagonally in half and serve immediately.

# Top Suggestions:

01 -
  • It combines all the best parts of a BLT with the gooey comfort of grilled cheese, so you don't have to choose.
  • The avocado adds a creamy layer that balances the salty bacon and sharp cheese perfectly.
  • It takes twenty minutes start to finish, which means you can make it even when you're hungry and impatient.
  • Every bite is crunchy, melty, and satisfying in a way that feels indulgent but isn't complicated.
02 -
  • Don't rush the heat, medium-low is key or the bread will burn before the cheese melts and you'll end up with a sad, unmelted center.
  • Season the avocado and tomato directly, not just the outside of the sandwich, it makes every layer taste intentional instead of bland.
  • Let the butter soften before spreading it, cold butter tears the bread and makes uneven browning.
03 -
  • Press down gently with your spatula while grilling, it helps the cheese melt faster and creates better contact between the layers.
  • If your skillet isn't big enough for both sandwiches, keep the first one warm in a low oven while you cook the second.
  • Use a serrated knife to slice the sandwich, it cuts through the crispy bread without squishing all the fillings out.
